School Improvement in Maryland

HSA: High School Assessment Program

CLG Toolkit: Resources to teach the core learning goals

The Toolkit is a project developed and implemented by the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) in partnership with local school system staff. The project has two main goals:

1) to provide Maryland educators with additional resources that will assist them in the instruction of content and skills contained in the voluntary state curriculum and Core Learning Goals.

2) to enhance student learning in the classroom, as well as improve student success on all Maryland assessments.

What does HSA test?

The High School Assessments test student's knowledge of Core Learning Goals at the indicator level. Some indicators have assessment limits which indicate more specifically what will be assessed. Assessment items and other instructional resources at the indicator level can be viewed in the CLG Toolkit.
