Standard 2.0 Biomechanical Principles

Students will demonstrate an ability to use the principles of biomechanics to generate and control force to improve their movement effectiveness and safety.

Topic

A. Effects on Objects

Indicator

  • 1. Apply the concept of force in relationship to how objects move.
Objectives
  1. Demonstrate how to change and control the amount of force applied to a projectile in order to move it toward a moving target.
  2. Calculate and show how accuracy of projectiles is dependent on factors such as: speed of projectile, distance from target, weight of object, size of the implement, and number of body parts used.
  3. Choose and integrate efficient movements in order to decrease injuries in a variety of activities.

Topic

B. Balance

Indicator

  • 1. Analyze the concept of balance in complex movement patterns.
Objective
  1. Investigate how changes in the center of gravity affect balance and performance in a variety of physical activities.
