Comparing Objects

Materials needed

A variety of objects from the classroom (e.g., book, block, container).

Activities

Students work together in a circle on a rug or in the large group area. Choose an object from the classroom and place it in the middle of the circle. Tell students they are to find an object that is bigger or smaller than this object. Students find an object from somewhere else in the classroom and decide whether their object is bigger or smaller. Encourage students to directly compare their object to the original object by placing them side by side. Ask them to tell how they know their object is bigger or smaller.
