Question

Questions to ask during ongoing instruction are:

  • Show me something that is about an inch long. Show me something that is about 3 inches long. How did you decide it was about 3 inches long?
  • This pencil is 6 inches long. Is the crayon more than 6 inches or less than 6 inches long? About how many inches long do you think the crayon is? How can you find the length of the crayon?
  • Is the length of the book closer to 3 inches or 7 inches? Why do you think so?
  • Does it make sense to measure the marker or the desk in inches? Why do you think so?
