Identify questions to guide the discussion
.
. To effectively lead a discussion about your assessment data, you need to ask thoughtful questions about your data results and give your staff time and support in answering the questions. You are essentially modeling constructivist teaching as you lead the problem-solving discussion.
 
You will ask three types of questions:
  1. questions that can be answered by the graphs and charts
  2. questions that can only be answered on the basis of classroom experience or prior knowledge
  3. questions that are raised by the data and can only be answered by collecting and analyzing additional data.
     
In this activity you have an opportunity to practice writing questions about a selected graph that you would use to lead the discussion and then compare your questions to the ones we developed.

The following 11 graphs from MSPAP results allow you to practice writing questions to guide the discussion for each school below. They are currently being revised to illustrate AYP and MSA data.
